What to expect
- Updates come often. The launcher installs them by itself when it starts, so you're always on the newest version. Servers update themselves too.
- Your worlds carry over from one update to the next. Still, back up a world you'd hate to lose: it's a folder in the launcher's Installations.
- Things will break now and then. When they do, telling us is the most useful thing you can do (see below).
Not finished yet
- Minecraft mods: their blocks, items, recipes, ores and creatures come over; their crops, blocks, items, machines and menus work as you use them, their creatures keep their own numbers and habits, and Create's machines need rotation. Not yet: a mod's own cooking and crafting logic exactly as written, creatures' full behaviour, and new dimensions. Some big mods (Create, Biomes O' Plenty) only partly load.
- Mac: a new version can reach Mac a little later than Windows and Linux.
- The first install shows a warning on Windows ("Windows protected your PC": More info → Run anyway) and on Mac (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway). That's only the first time.
Tell us what you find
- In the launcher, press Report a problem. Say what you were doing and what went wrong. Leave the box ticked: it adds the game's log and your computer's details, which helps a lot.
- Or email [email protected], with a screenshot if you can.
Ideas welcome too: what you'd like to see, what felt slow or confusing, what you loved.
